How I work

The type of therapy I practise, psychodynamic therapy, involves exploring your past to understand how early experiences may have influenced who you are today. As we work together, I find I can often identify recurring patterns, which can sometimes be traced back to early relationships and family dynamics.

I will listen closely to what you share, paying attention to both your conscious concerns and the thoughts and feelings that may lie outside of your immediate awareness, your unconscious. We often make decisions or react in ways we don't fully understand, and part of our work will be to bring greater awareness to these unconscious processes.

This reflective process can sometimes evoke difficult emotions. Together, we will make space to explore and understand these feelings within the safety of the consulting room, but this can be a challenging aspect of the work.

I have completed the following psychotherapeutic training:

I have also spent several years volunteering for suicide prevention charity, The Listening Place, where I gained extensive experience in supporting people with their suicidal thoughts and feelings.

Before I trained as a therapist, I spent 15 years working as a professional in financial services.
